چکیده

In this paper, we present a formalism for computing the non-vanishing Higgs μterms in a heterotic standard model. This is accomplished by calculating the cubic product of the cohomology groups associated with the vector bundle moduli (φ), Higgs (H) and Higgs conjugate (H̄) superfields. This leads to terms proportional to φHH̄ in the low energy superpotential which, for non-zero moduli expectation values, generate moduli dependent μ-terms of the form 〈φ〉HH̄. It is found that these interactions are subject to two very restrictive selection rules, each arising from a Leray spectral sequence, which greatly reduce the number of moduli that can couple to Higgs–Higgs conjugate fields. We apply our formalism to a specific heterotic standard model vacuum. The non-vanishing cubic interactions φHH̄ are explicitly computed in this context and shown to contain only four of the nineteen vector bundle moduli. ∗vbraun, yanghe, [email protected]; [email protected]

Tri-linear Couplings in an Heterotic Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model

We calculate, at the classical level, the superpotential tri-linear couplings of the only known globally consistent heterotic minimal supersymmetric Standard Model [1]. This recently constructed model is based on a compactification of the E8 × E8 heterotic string theory on a Calabi-Yau threefold with Z2 fundamental group, coupled with a slope-stable holomorphic SU(5) vector bundle. In the obser...

O ct 2 00 2 Modular Invariance , Soft Breaking , μ and tan β in Superstring Models

We go beyond parameterizations of soft terms in superstring models and investigate the dynamical assumptions that lead to the relative strength of the dilaton vs the moduli contributions in the soft breaking. Specifically, we discuss in some simple heterotic orbifold models sufficient conditions to achieve dilaton dominance. Assuming self-dual points to be minima we find multiple solutions to t...

Heterotic Standard Model Moduli

In previous papers, we introduced a heterotic standard model and discussed its basic properties. The Calabi-Yau threefold has, generically, three Kähler and three complex structure moduli. The observable sector of this vacuum has the spectrum of the MSSM with one additional pair of Higgs-Higgs conjugate fields. The hidden sector has no charged matter in the strongly coupled string and only mini...

An SU(5) Heterotic Standard Model

We introduce a new heterotic Standard Model which has precisely the spectrum of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), with no exotic matter. The observable sector has gauge group SU(3)C ×SU(2)L×U(1)Y . Our model is obtained from a compactification of heterotic strings on a Calabi-Yau threefold with Z2 fundamental group, coupled with an invariant SU(5) bundle. Depending on the region...
